J. Allison DeFoor, II D.Min.

Dr. DeFoor, a seventh-generation Floridian, is a graduate of the University of South Florida, Stetson Law School and the South Florida Center for Theological Studies. Often described as a “Renaissance” guy, he is a well-known conservationist, businessman, Florida historian and seminary-trained lawyer. His prior positions include county and circuit judge and Sheriff. Dr. DeFoor was previously named as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men in America and received the Chairman’s Award from the Audubon Society. He has written and edited books and articles on topics ranging from law to the Florida Keys. As Governor Jeb Bush's chief environmental advisor, he served as a member of the Governor’s Growth Study Commission, South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force and Governor’s Commission for Sustainable Florida. In this capacity, Dr. DeFoor's leadership role in negotiating programs for Everglades restoration earned him the title of "Everglades Czar." Currently, he is an executive with EarthBalance, Florida's leading environmental restoration firm.
