E. T. (Travis) York, Ph.D

Dr. York received degrees from Auburn University and Cornell University.  He presently serves as Chancellor Emeritus of the State University System of Florida.  Dr. York has had a distinguished career in Agriculture Education and has served on numerous boards of both non-profit and commercial ventures. His contributions through the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences led to a major increase in Florida's cash farming industry and continue to positively impact Florida's economy. He received an honorary degree from Ohio State University for his work concerning world hunger and has been the recipient of many other honors for his contributions to the development of agricultural and food systems worldwide. In recognition for his efforts in combating world hunger, the Biographical Centre in Cambridge, England, named Dr. York the “International Scientist of the Year” for 2001. In 2003, Dr. York was recognized by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture as one of the 60 U.S. citizens who have contributed most to the progress of agriculture in the Americas over the last 60 years.
